Richard joins Assante Capital Management Ltd. with over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry with a focus on investment, estate, tax, retirement and business succession planning. A resident of Antigonish since 2000 and graduate of St. Francis Xavier University (BBA), Richard’s financial services training began in Saint John, NB. He ran an investment/financial planning practice in Saint John for 15 years, working with various dealerships, prior to moving to Nova Scotia. For several years, while in New Brunswick, he served as the nightly financial market commentator for CBC Radio One and also wrote a financial column for the provincial daily, The Telegraph Journal. Richard holds the Certified Financial Planner designation through FP Canada and the Registered Retirement Consultant (RRC) designation through the Canadian Institute of Financial Planning. Throughout his career, he has frequently given lectures and workshops on various financial planning and related topics.
Richard’s volunteer time over the years has included, Chair of the St Martha’s Hospital Foundation, Board Member of the Antigonish Chamber of Commerce, Guest Lecturer at The Gerald Schwartz School of Business, President StFX Alumni Association – Saint John, NB chapter, and Public Address Announcer – StFX Varsity Basketball and Football.
In his spare time he enjoys reading, travel, skiing, basketball, football and baseball (The Boston Red Sox).
