Matt Buie, B.Sc., CFP
Senior Financial Planning Advisor
As a Senior Financial Planning Advisor at Assante, I can help you achieve your future dreams while enjoying peace of mind today. Whether it's Investing in Socially Responsible Impactful Investments utilizing the Environmental, Social and Governance selection criteria, a worry-free retirement, saving for your children’s education, fulfilling a lifelong ambition, running a prosperous business or leaving a legacy to your loved ones or a cherished cause, I will work with you every step of the way.
Creating and managing your wealth can be complex and time-consuming. My role is to simplify your life and save you time by addressing all aspects of your financial well-being from investments and insurance to tax and estate planning. Supported by a team of professionals including lawyers, tax accountants and financial analysts, I can help you make the right decisions about your wealth and help you build the future you desire.
For 25 years, I have been enjoying helping successful people live wonderful lives. My passion and focus are helping understand and realize each client’s unique life goals.
I have always had an interest in the human experience. As a result, I have pursued and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Economics. This degree helped strengthen my interest and understanding in Behavioral Economics and Finance, a field which explores various human biases and how they affect financial decision-making. In my role as a Senior Financial Planning Advisor, I try to use these insights to help my clients avoid costly emotional financial mistakes.
To further strengthen my financial skills, I became a Certified Financial Planner. This credential means that I have achieved and maintain internationally recognized standards of knowledge, skills, abilities and ethics. The CFP designation provides assurance to Canadians that the design of their financial future rests with an appropriately qualified professional who will put clients’ interests ahead of their own.
I have also received the Responsible Investment Specialist designation from the Responsible Investment Association whose mandate is to educate and support the development of impactful Social Responsible investments in our world. In recent years, climate change has been dominating the headlines and has become a watershed issue helping to expand awareness around a growing number of other problems. My passion is to help my clients invest in impactful Social Responsible Investments to both make money and do good.
I specialize in combining sound proven fundamentals of financial planning, asset protection and investment management with the merits of leading-edge behavioral finance. I also believe in thematic investing approaches that take advantage of relatively certain trends such as the need for increased sustainability and accelerating change driven by continual science and technological advancement.
Among my greatest strengths with my clients are my knowledge, integrity, commitment to exceptional service and a keen personal interest to understand the evolving marketplace.
On a personal note, I enjoy family time with my wife Tracy and two children, Michael and Emily. We are an active outdoor family spending time skiing, mountain biking and sailing. As a family we experience a Life Well Lived.
Feel free to connect with me to brainstorm on your Life Well Lived.
