KLEINBURG, ON - The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is excited to announce that its signature fundraising event, Moonlight Gala 2017, has raised in total over $675,000 toward the conservation and preservation of more than 6,000 Canadian artworks in the McMichael's permanent collection. Presented by Assante Wealth Management Group of Seven Wealth Advisors, the sold-out event on Saturday, June 3, 2017, hosted 700 guests and took place on the McMichael's spectacular grounds, which were transformed into a glamorous outdoor party for an evening of dining and dancing under the stars. An historic celebration, Moonlight Gala 2017 marked the meeting of three important anniversaries: Canada's 150th birthday, the commemoration of Tom Thomson's passing 100 years ago, and the conclusion of the McMichael's 50th anniversary.

Each year the Moonlight Gala raises much-needed funds for the McMichael's permanent collection, ensuring that the McMichael continues to thrive for decades to come. MY INTERVIEW ON ROGERS DAYTIME TV

WITH JACQUELINE BETTERTON

Forum Magazine - June 2013 Edition: A Life of Purpose

An Iranian immigrant who came to Canada in 1990, Tina Tehranchian, CFP, CLU, CH.F.C., manager of the Richmond Hill, Ont. branch of Assante Capital Management Ltd., still recalls the difficulties of settling in a new country. Much of the volunteer work of the 22-year financial services veteran has been focused on helping those with similar challenges.  In 2000, Tehranchian joined the Iranian Advisory Council of Family Services in Toronto and co-spearheaded a subcommittee to help Iranian immigrants find jobs and address employment issues. This led to a group called the Iranian Canadian Employment Network, which included a mentoring program where professionals would mentor newcomers in the same field.  Helping new immigrants has given Tehranchian tremendous satisfaction. When she and her husband and children came to Canada, they had no knowledge of employment service agencies or of mentors, and had to start from scratch to become established in their respective disciplines.  "That was my motivation - to ensure there's a more substantial Iranian community that we all contribute and give back to [in order to] make it easier for newcomers to get established," she says.  In 2005, Tehranchian chaired the first fundraising gala for the Encyclopedia Iranica Foundation, a Columbia University project for the  development of an encyclopedia of Persian history and culture. The gala raised over $1 million.

Today, Tehranchian, who was awarded the Fellow of FPSC distinction in 2011, sits on the board of governors of Seneca College, the board of the Mackenzie Health Foundation, the board of trustees of the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, and the Fort York Foundation board of directors.

On Sunday, October 21st, 2012 over 350 women gathered at Bellvue Manor in Vaughan to raise funds for the Mackenzie Health Foundation (Formerly York Central Hospital Foundation), learn about healthy aging, fitness, how to improve their mental health, and build new friendships.

She talked about her history of philanthropy and her special relationship with Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital. Keynote speaker, Rona Maynard, inspired the audience with her life story, recounting her battle with depression, how she learned to replace the negative barriers in her life with positive ones and encouraged the attendees to do the same.

With the engaging and informative keynote speaker, the insightful humor of renowned comedienne, Judy Croon, fun activities, such as an energizing fitness break sponsored by Moksha Yoga Maple and interesting sponsor booths to visit - the morning proved to be a great success.

The event helped raise over $40,000 which will not only be used to fund Mental Health Programs for Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital but will pay for four new psychiatric beds and renovations required to ensure the comfort and safety of patients and staff members.
